Goodness everywhere

January 3rd, 2010 by joy

During our visit to Chesapeake, Kevin and I wandered around a favorite old park.  Much had changed since the last time I spent an afternoon making dandelion chains with my friends.  (Changed in the park–I continue to make dandelion chains.)

There was a frisbee golf course, huge playground, and several new picnicking areas.  Sadly, the vine swing was not there.

Autumn and I loved that swing.  See how the ground dipped down there? A giant, thick, inviting vine hung in the perfect “u shape.”  We were pretty thrilled that we could share a turn!

It was nice to think back over 10 years ago!  What I loved then –being in nature and sunshine, spending time with friends and loved ones, enjoying a moment of creativity–are the things I love now.

I squeezed my husband’s hand, smiled at the goodness around, and was pleasantly surprised!

In the middle of a quiet forest trail, some visitors had shared sweet treats.  The popcorn and cranberry garland looked especially colorful in the green trees.  Just next to those trees, hanging from empty branches, were peanut butter pine cones.  Just covered in birdseed!

Since it is the beginning of a new year, I resolve to notice more of these simple moments.  To find goodness everywhere.
